Star Wars A New Hope: Revisited by Adywan, I can only find torrents that download DVD style versions, is there a simple video version somewhere? Like I said, every torrent I find of this just downloads like when you open a DVD to view the inner files. Descriptions of all Avengers: Endgame deleted scenes from the DVD and Blu-ray release, with scenes involving Thor, Rocket, and Tony Stark.

This is a very interesting Star Wars documentary about the making of the first Star Wars film (and to a lesser extent Empire and Jedi) including a look at some of the deleted scenes, behind the scenes footage, and notes on subtle things that you might have never seen or noticed before. This is a partial list of scenes (some filmed, some in animatic form or merely considered) that weren't included in any version of the canon films or TV series. Some scenes were cut due to time constraints, while others simply didn't fit into the flow of the story. Deleted scenes for the prequel trilogy were featured on the second disc of their original DVD release, but most of the original.

PROLOGUE

I searched this forum, and many other pages over the net, but haven’t found a 1080p extended edition of any Star Wars movie (yet); so I think it could be a good idea to start this project - that, I’m aware, is really ambitious.

What I’d like to do is to reinsert as many deleted/extended scenes as possible; I know ADigitalMan did a good job, with his prequel trilogy extended edition DVDs; but, at the time, the BDs were not available yet, with all their exclusive deleted scenes; also, don’t know anything about similar HD finished projects of original trilogy, or EP 7.

Complete anymatics scenes, or ones with a lot of unfinished effects, will be left out (unless someone is so skilled to finish them!); good quality finished scenes will be left untouched, apart a bit of denoise and upscale; good quality partially unfinished scenes will be analyzed, to see if it’s possible to finish them, or cut the unfinished parts leaving enough worth footage; bad quality finished scenes will be cleaned as much as possible and, if final quality is reasonably good, they will be used; missing or unfinished audio should be replaced, to obtain usable footage.

This topic will be mainly used to discover which scenes, technically or not, could be used, and which could be corrected (and how), or not to be used at all.

Revisited

SOME TECHNICAL INFO (in no particular order)

  • Still undecided which versions to use - theatrical? 1997? 2004? 2011? Probably 2004, as it has more scenes than theatrical ones; the most offending changes (Greedo shot, Anakin’s ghost etc) will be taken from theatrical, or 1997 version.
  • The BD levels will be scaled from 16-255 to 16-235, to be TV compliant.
  • 2004 MPEG-2 and AVC HDTV will be slightly cleaned and merged, to squeeze every possible detail.
  • Color correction: for the prequel, a slight depink (and maybe some contrast and/or brightness adjustment) will be done; for the original trilogy, still undecided what to do; for Episode 7, I will like to fix the teal&orange
  • For Episode 1 deleted scenes from DVD; I used both PAL and NTSC DVDs, to gain a bit of resolution, and a grandtotal of 12 horizontal lines - wow, we are talking about 1.5% more image here! (^^,) The PAL and NTSC were cleaned, carefully upscaled and aligned, overlaid, then the result image was slightly depinked.
  • For Episodes 2 and 3 deleted scenes from DVD, the same technique may be used; further testings needed
  • For Episode 1, few shots from theatrical version (LD/SDTV), not present on DVD or BD version, will be used.
  • Final release will be BD-25
  • Audio tracks will be in English for the whole extended movie, while I have yet to decide if add foreign tracks for the non-extended parts, and leave the extended part in English with subtitles, or add just the foreign subtitles.
  • Release time: I want to wait some time, to discover eventual deleted scenes not present in the reference link
  • Episode 1 DVD cleaned and upscaled scenes are almost ready (2 or 3 days); BD scenes should be prepared, but they will take not much time; encoding time will take a day; when the final project will be ready, it will take a week (at least) to torrent/upload it completely; my goal is to try to release it before this Xmas!
  • real 35mm grain plate will be added, to improve perceived resolution, and mask eventual residual source blocks

HELP NEEDED!

  • a really big fan who knows anything about Star Wars, and, of course, released video - all the original DVDs and BDs are mandatory; more knowledge on video material like laserdiscs, VHS, TV and web documentaries, trailers, teasers etc. is really welcome; he will help to find out as many deleted scenes as possible - even the two seconds long ones hidden in some trailer! found, benduwan; also, pittrek and darth_ender help a lot!!!
  • a good audio editor, to repair or replace audio tracks when needed found, MWilson!
  • someone crazy enough to colorize short b&w shots by hand…
  • further help is welcome as well!
