Guest login
Packet Tracer 7.0 requires a valid Cisco Networking Academy login for unrestricted use. Without a valid account, Packet Tracer can be used with the Guest Account whichwill limit the number of times that files can be saved. Guest logins aren't remembered : the next time Packet Tracer is run after a guest login, the guest login will need to be done again.
To log in as a guest, use the Guest Login button. This will open a page to help you sign up for an account, a countdown will appear in the button. Once the countdown has finished, press it again to enter Packet Tracer.
It is highly recommended to open a free Cisco Networking Academy account to unlock register Packet Tracer 7.0 in your environment and benefit from free Netacad networking lessons.
Packet Tracer 7.0 Ubuntu/Linux installation
Packet Tracer 7.0 is provided as a .tar.gz package for Ubuntu 14.04 (64 bit) on Netacad website. Ubuntu 12.04 is supported for 32 bit installation. A source installer is embedded in the package. Installation as been reported to work on other linux distributions, but this setup is not officially supported.

Install Packet Tracer 7.0 using the ./install command. Packet Tracer 7.0 will be installed by default in /opt/pt with a symbolic link in /usr/local/bin
IE2000 Industrial switch
Cisco Industrial Ethernet 2000 switches are compact fixed switching platform available in two form factors : DIN rail mount, wall, or pole mount with IP67 protection. For electrical utilities specific applications, the Cisco IE 2000U Switch has also been released. The different models provide between 6 and 20 Ethernet interfaces and up to 24 Ethernet interfaces on the IE2000 IP67 (various models available).
The IE2000 industrial switch included in Packet Tracer 7.0 is a IE-2000-8T67P-G-E which runs IE2000-UNIVERSALKP-M 15.2(1)EY software version. Several Precision Time Protocol (PTP) sample labs using IE2000 switch are shipped with Packet Tracer 7 as high precision clock synchronization is required for industrial networks. POE is also supported in the real world switch (to be confirmed in Packet Tracer 7.0)

Cisco 829 ISR routers are compact, ruggedized, Cisco IOS Software routers with support for integrated 4G LTE wireless WAN and wireless LAN capabilities. The model included in Packet Tracer 7.0 features 4 LAN Gigabit interfaces, 1 wireless AP, and 2 cellular network interfaces.
Cisco 1240 Connected Grid Router
The Connected Grid Router (CGR) 1000 Series Routers are ruggedized, modular platforms certified to meet harsh environmental standards. This modular platform supports various wired and wireless interfaces, and a 902- 928 MHz IPv6 RF mesh that can aggregate up to 5000 endpoints such as smart meters. The router has integrated Ethernet and serial interfaces to connect to DA devices such as sensors, capacitor bank controllers, recloser controllers, and remote terminal units. They support a FastEthernet, GigabitEthernet, serial, cellular, WiMAX, radio-frequency (RF) mesh, and power line communications (PLC).
The CGR 1240 featured in Cisco Packet Tracer 7.0 includes 3 GigabitEthernet, 4 FastEthernet, and 1 802.11 wifi interfaces.

Packet Tracer 7.0 knows issues
Packet Tracer 6.x activities mght not load proprely in Packet Tracer 7.0. Routers ans switches devices might disappear with only the text and the end devices remaining. The same activity file is working well in Packet Tracer 6.3
Icons don't scale properly on laptops with Ultra High Definition screens. To scale PT in high resolution screen, go to Options menu -> Preferences -> Font tab.
Command 'Service Password-encryption' on 829 router might crash Packet Tracer 7.0.
Cisco Packet Tracer 9.9.1 Download
The Catalyst 3560 switch supports enabling port-security on interfaces, but it is missing the 'show port-security' command(s). The commands are present on the Catalyst 2960 switch.
Cisco 7 Cracker
When configuring a remonte SPAN on any kind of switch, the program crashes juste after configuring the RSPAN destination into the remote vlan (monitor session 1 destination remote vlan 99 reflector-port fa0/24). Will probably be corrected in Packet Tracer 7.1
What's next ?
Cisco Packet Tracer 7.2
IP echo-based SLAs could be supported in the next Packet Tracer version (release number has not leaked) as it has been included by Cisco in ICND2 exam. The feature seems to have been included in the development roadmap.
